about the
Florida Birth-Related Neurological
This NICA web site is intended to provide general information to consumers and other lawyers about the Florida Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Plan, sometimes referred to as the NICA Plan. We are not the official NICA agency. We are a private law firm and we believe people whose lives may be impacted by NICA should have a better understanding about how the program works. NICA offers very little information to the general public. NICA does not even provide to its participating families a list of what it will and will not pay for, choosing instead to make its decisions on what items it will pay for on an ad hoc, and some would say an arbitrary, basis. If you are the parent of a birth-injured child looking for information about the NICA program we suggest you begin by reviewing the section on this site called "Frequently Asked Questions" from the link on the left. If you are trying to determine if your child is eligible, click the Link on the left called "Is My Child Covered?" While we can give you information, please remember that no final decision about coverage can be made except by filing an actual petition for NICA benefits with the appropriate administrative law court.
